Just an Update

Hey Guys ~
Just an update for you. Steven and I are back from one week up in Tennessee. I have to admit that going up and down a mountain with winding roads is definitely not cool during the first trimester! I still feel dizzy from it all. Other than that, everything went well and we are home safe.

As for the typical first trimester ailments, I haven't had any morning sickness. The only thing is just motion sickness when riding in the car, but regardless I still haven't actually gotten sick yet. Praise the Lord! I feel dizzy more than anything these days. Other than that, I have nothing! I would completely forget that I was pregnant if I wasn't so happy about it!

Some weird stuff has been happening though. For some reason, when I go to switch the load of laundry in the washing machine to the dryer I find an open washing machine lid and my clothes aren't done! I swear that I am not the one doing this. I close the lid every time I start a new load. But, Steven said he never touches it and, well, who else is there? I guess this is just part of the "losing my mind" aspect of pregnancy. I still swear I'm not the one doing it. It's happened at least three times though.

I haven't had many cravings or anything (I'm only 7 weeks along), but I have this crazy desire to eat dill pickles more than anything these days. I got a humongous jar from Sam's club yesterday so hopefully that will last a while. Other than that, I've been good about my diet though. I'm trying to really watch myself. The hardest thing for me is to get enough calcium in my diet. I absolutely hate (HATE) to drink milk, so I've resorted to cottage cheese and yogurt. It's still pretty hard for me, but I know that it is important for the baby so I make it a priority. Also, I've been trying to cut back on the bad carbs. I don't want to gain too much weight, so I'm watching everything I eat. I've also made a commitment to not eat fast food. That kind of didn't work out during the 10 hour drive up to TN and then the other 10 hour drive home. I tried to be good about it, so I stuck to chicken salads and the healthier sandwiches. Hopefully we won't go on too many other road trips b/c I'd really like to not be in that situation again.

I'm also walking on the elliptical for 20 minutes every day for my workout. I'm done with classes for the summer semester. I got a 100 (A+) in one class and a 97 (A+) in the other. I'm pretty proud of myself for getting such good grades during my first graduate semester. One of my teachers even recommended I send one of my papers into a professional journal for publication! Anyway, fall classes don't start up until late August so I have a lot of free time on my hands.
I'm still doing my graduate assistantship, but all of that work is from home. I'm trying to keep busy!

My first midwife appointment is coming up August 11th, so we'll update you more then,

Steven and Jill
