GIRL!! Family and friends, meet our little girl Aubrey Elizabeth! I must say that despite the fact that my Tuesday appointment was cancelled and moved to Wednesday, I am so happy. I learned a lesson in patience. It was truly worth the wait. I've had my doctor's office ultrasound tech before for an ultrasound and I know that she is not the nicest of people. Since she was unable to make her appointments on Wednesday, my doctor's office hired what I refer to as a rent-a-tech. She was from another doctor's office and she was just the sweetest lady ever. She took time with me to show us every organ in Aubrey's body from the brain
down to the kidneys. She even snuck in some 4D shots for me, which was amazing and freaky all at the same time. I could tell during the 4D ultrasound that she has my cheeks. The pictures are kind of scary, but you can see the definitions in her face really well. I'm so happy to have such a nice person like her. She gave me a million pictures too!!
As for Aubrey, she is the picture of health! The tech was very surprised that she was absolutely perfect. We started with her brain, both hemispheres looked perfect. Then we moved on to her heart and all 4 chambers were, again, perfect. She showed us the stomach and the fluid that is in it, which was looking good. Then, she showed us her kidneys and said they looked just fine. All of her measurements were good. She measures a little under 20 weeks right now, but I'm sure she'll catch up. On the same note, all of my blood test
s have come back negative. So, I can confirm that Aubrey doesn't have any major diseases like downs syndrome or cystic fibrosis. But, back to the ultrasound. When it finally came down to time to get the "money shot," Aubrey was being a very modest girl. She never really opened her legs for us. Once the tech rolled over it though, I was certain she was a girl, mainly because there were no boy bits. But, the tech said that she got a really good look and saw the three lines that she was looking for. She gave me a higher than 90% positive belief that this was definitely a girl and not a boy. I have to say that I agree with her too. We tried to get Aubrey to open her legs wider, but she wouldn't have it. Oh well, I don't think it gets clearer than that and I'm happy to have a modest little girl!!
Here's some more pictures from the ultrasound for you:
This is a full shot of Aubrey. She has her far hand up to her face and the other is resting on her chest. The tech counted and she has all 10 fingers! Here you can also see her leg and knee.
This was interesting. During the whole ultrasound, Aubrey was moving like crazy! Well, we actually caught her in the act of doing a 180 flip. So in most of the pictures, you'll see that she is facing up, but here she turned over facing down. We got a good shot of her spine in this picture, which again looks great!
In this picture, you can see Aubrey's feet. She was moving around too much, so we couldn't count them. The tech said that they were long toes (maybe she get's that one from Steven because I have short stubby toes) and she confirmed that Aubrey is not bow-legged.
On another positive note, I can confirm that the placenta has moved up, up and away! This makes me really happy because I did not want to get stuck with placenta privea and be forced into a C-section. So, now all is well and I'm off pelvic rest and free to act like a normal pregnant woman! Praise the Lord!! I can go walking without feeling bad. Also, I gained 2 lbs. So, my pregnancy weight gain is up to -1 lb. Everyone is pretty happy with that!! My mom and I went out and found some pretty good deals on some girl clothes, so that was fun. And, the kicker to the end of the day was the Steven actually got to feel Aubrey kicking at me! It was funny to see him react. He would say is that her? And, I was like yep. She is kicking up a storm. So, all in all it was a pretty amazing day.
Love you all,
Steven & Jill
